WAY POINT LIGHTING REMANUFACTURING PILOT LINE

Way Point Srl è orgogliosa di annunciare l’avvio di un ambizioso progetto di remanufacturing nel settore del lighting che coinvolge una rete di eccellenze in tutta Italia. Dalla Sicilia alla Campania, fino alla Puglia, il progetto beneficia della collaborazione di importanti centri di ricerca e università, confermando il valore della sinergia tra territori e competenze per promuovere l’innovazione sostenibile.

La nuova Linea Pilota di Lighting Remanufacturing, che sarà realizzata nello stabilimento di Altivole, si pone l’obiettivo di ridurre i rifiuti trasformando prodotti giunti a fine vita in nuove soluzioni efficienti e tecnologicamente avanzate. Il progetto, con un investimento complessivo di 400.000 €, di cui 210.000 € cofinanziati dalla Regione Veneto, rappresenta un passo significativo verso l’economia circolare.

Un’innovazione per il settore lighting.

Il progetto si basa sul processo di remanufacturing, che prevede il disassemblaggio dei prodotti giunti a fine vita. I componenti che non possono essere riutilizzati vengono destinati ad altre strategie di fine-vita, come ricondizionamento, riparazione o riciclo. Al contrario, le componenti ancora utilizzabili vengono pulite e reintrodotte integralmente nel prodotto, garantendo una seconda vita a materiali altrimenti destinati allo smaltimento.

«La realizzazione della nuova linea prevede un laboratorio dotato di strumenti e apparecchiature per eseguire test sui prodotti rimanufatturizzati, come test meccanici di forza e test termici. Questo garantirà sicurezza e qualità ai prodotti, che saranno aggiornati, sicuri e di qualità, con funzioni pari a quelle di un prodotto nuovo. Inoltre, il progetto includerà uno studio di eco-design per progettare nuovi prodotti aziendali basati sui principi del ‘Design for Remanufacturing’, applicandoli al settore del lighting,» spiega Alberto Baesso, responsabile del progetto.

Baesso aggiunge: «Frequentemente gli studi di progettazione di arredi o di lighting difficilmente tengono conto delle analisi di ciclo vita, della riparabilità o rimanufatturabilità in fase di progetto, come peraltro indicato nella recente riedizione della direttiva Ecodesign 2024/1781. Stesso concetto vale per le aziende che non hanno la giusta percezione dell’evoluzione del DPP – digital product passport. Per questo, abbiamo deciso di coinvolgere, in un progetto che sarà avviato nei primi mesi del 2025, il Politecnico di Milano e l’IUAV di Venezia nel redigere una ‘Guida alla progettazione Ecodesign’ che stimoli il progettista a partire dall’analisi del ciclo vita del prodotto, utilizzando strumenti appropriati alla valutazione della sostenibilità e dell’impatto, definito come sustainability footprint.»

Nuove frontiere nei materiali riciclati e additive manufacturing

A partire dalla primavera 2025, Way Point Srl lancerà un’ulteriore iniziativa volta a integrare materiali provenienti da riciclo, in sostituzione a materiali polimerici o con basso coefficiente di sostenibilità. Questi materiali saranno prodotti principalmente attraverso processi di additive manufacturing e includeranno il vetro e il gesso.

Per il vetro, Way Point collaborerà con il “Cluster Vetro” dello IUAV di Venezia, mentre per il gesso lavorerà con Eco Avant-garde. L’obiettivo è creare soluzioni innovative che riducano ulteriormente l’impatto ambientale, promuovendo un uso responsabile delle risorse.

Il progetto beneficia della collaborazione con atenei e istituti di ricerca distribuiti su tutto il territorio nazionale. Tra questi:

Un approccio europeo

Nel settembre 2024, Way Point ha presentato il primo protocollo europeo di “Lighting Remanufacturing”, sviluppato in collaborazione con università italiane e istituzioni internazionali. Questo studio ha analizzato modelli di business virtuosi, con particolare attenzione al recupero di prodotti “End of Life” provenienti dalla reverse waste supply chain, un approccio particolarmente adatto al tessuto economico italiano.

Il progetto coinvolge partner europei per affrontare le sfide del remanufacturing in modo integrato e innovativo, in sinergia con European Remanufacturing Council.

Un traguardo internazionale

I risultati del progetto saranno presentati alla conferenza internazionale ICoR 2025, che si terrà ad Amsterdam dall’ 8 al 10 aprile 2025. Questo evento offrirà un’importante piattaforma per condividere le innovazioni nel remanufacturing e rafforzare il ruolo di Way Point come leader nell’economia circolare.
